Licensed Nursing Assistant
Our Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) program teaches students the basics in patient care, universal precautions, body mechanics, patient admission and discharge, treatment procedures, and elder care. This pathway incorporates a practicum to prepare students for entry-level positions as a nurse's assistant.
What Do Nursing Assistants Do?
Nursing assistants perform routine health care tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff. They may answer patient's bedside calls, deliver messages, serve meals, make beds, or help patients eat, dress, and bathe. LNAs also provide skin care and check and record routine health indicators such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
Becoming a nursing assistant is the first step of the career nursing ladder. With additional schooling, it could lead to certification as a LPN, RN, or higher. LNAs work in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted care facilities. They often find success working with home health patients.
