2009 - SHS | December 2009 - SHSKolt McKinney - Agriscience III/IVKolt has been active member here in the Safford Ag. Department for the past four years. Throughout this time here he has had many outstanding accomplishments, such as being on the state winning Forestry team in 2007 and the state winning Agronomy team in 2009. He has also served in many officer positions throughout the years including the Safford FFA Treasurer for the current year. Kolt continues to go above and beyond what is expected and is a tremendous asset to our FFA chapter. (Instructor - Lance Fite) |  | November 2009 - SHSJackie Villalba - Graphic CommunicationsJackie's enthusiasm and dedication to her artwork exceeds the requirements and expectations of a typical student. Jackie's commitment to excellence is demonstrated in her outstanding artwork and she serves as a model student for her fellow peers. Jackie goes above and beyond when it comes to her projects, often working on her own time to put forth the extra effort to make her artwork excellent. All of her projects whether 2D, 3D, or graphic art, have been outstanding in regards to her originality, creativity, and her craftsmanship. Jackies also serves as Art Club President where she organizes, helps, and dedicates her time with events, community service projects, fundraisers, and activities. Her artistic and leadership skills not only assist the Art Club. Jackie is involved in student council, chef's brigade, orchestra, and the Boys and Girls Club. Her successes match the effort and the commitment she puts forth in all that she does. (Instructor - Alicia Laeder) |  | October 2009 - SHSAlex Ruiz - Early Childhood EducationAlex is senior at Safford High School. She is a fourth year Early Childhood Education student. She is an active member of ECE FCCLA. She is also involved in the Spanish club and yearbook. She helps with the softball team at Safford High School. Alex volunteers at a local elementary school as a teacher assistant. She loves babies and children. Alex hopes to continue her education getting her degree in Early Childhood Education and become a Preschool Director. Alex is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Ruiz and the oldest of 4 children. |  | September 2009 - SHSKatie Calloway - Business in Action II (BMAS Program)Katie has been enrolled in Business classes at Safford High School for the past three years. She is an active member in the local Safford High School FBLA chapter and is a second-year chapter officer. Katie excels in every project set before her and actively participates in class every day. She is a creative student and always gets her work in on time. Katie is an example of a great student and is a pleasure to have in class. She uses good judgement and is a great problem-solver. I believe Katie has what it takes to move forward in life and excel in all of life's journeys...especially in the business world! (Instructor - Marci Barlow) |  | May 2009 - SHSJason Olsen - AG/Advanced Plant & AnimalJason Olsen has been an active member here in the Safford Ag. Department for the past four years. Throughout his time here he has had many outstanding accomplishments such as being on the state winning Agronomy team in 2007 and the state winning Farm Business Management team in 2008. To top things off, this year Jason served as our Chapter Vice President as well as winning another state contest. This year Jason surpassed all previous accomplishments by being the state Ag. Sales individual champion. Jason is an individual that all members look up to, he is successful within the FFA program as well as in the classroom. This coming June Jason has decided to take a leap into the professional realm of FFA by running for a State FFA Office. If Jason receives this honor he will be one of Safford's first in many years to hold such a position. In addition, Jason is currently the student body president for Safford High School. She is going to be successful in whatever career she chooses. |  | March 2009 - SHSAllison Evans - Allison is a hard worker, an exceptional student, and quick to think on her feet. She goes above and beyond everyday, doing what needs to be done. She works well with others no matter whom you put her with or if she needs to work alone; She seems to find the best in any situation. She is respectful of all those around her if it be teacher or student. Allison is an all-around good student and person for whom great things will happen. |  | February 2009 - SHSKatie Larson - Basic DesignKatie's work in Basic Design goes beyond the standard requirements for the class. All of her projects have been outstanding in regards to her originality, creativity, and her craftsmanship. Katie's artwork reflects her work ethic. She remains focused on her tasks and projects while maintaining perfect attendance. Katie's enthusiasm for projects often has her learning, researching, and creating art outside of class. Whether she is creating in 2-D, 3-D, or graphic design, Katie's work is exceptional. |  | January 2009 - SHSAlexandria Duran - Business and AccountingAlexandria has been enrolled in Business and Accounting classes for the past 4 years. She excels in every project set before her. She is always on time to class and actively participates every day. She has a positive attitude about learning and is motivated to do her best. Alexandria is a great peer tutor in class with other students who struggle or need extra time.
Alexandria is also the most involved student in FBLA that I have witnessed in the past eight years. She is currently the Arizona FBLA State Treasurer and the Safford High School FBLA President. She is dedicated and always willing to step up to a challenge. She spends her spare time during the day keeping up with all of her responsibilities and always does excellent work. |
