Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find the answers to some of your most frequently asked questions. If you’d like further information after reading the answers below, please take some time to review our student handbook. As always, you are welcome to give us a call with any additional questions you may have.
Who can enroll in GIFT?
We serve high school students from Duncan Unified School District, Fort Thomas Unified School District, Morenci Unified School District, Pima Unified School District, Safford Unified School District, Solomon Schools, and Thatcher Unified School District, on a first-come, first-served basis. You can find information about enrolling your child in one of our technical programs on our Admissions page. We also serve home-schooled students and students up to the age of 22 who do not have a high school diploma or GED.
What costs are associated with GIFT?
Generally speaking, there are no tuition or book costs associated with our programs; however, certain EAC class fees may apply. For more specific information, please visit our Tuition and Fees page.
Do you provide transportation to and from GIFT classes?
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from GIFT’s central campus classes.
Will my child have access to the Internet while at GIFT?
Yes. As a technical school, technology and the Internet are vital to our program. In addition to course materials, students will have access to a variety of programs and equipment for use in completing assigned projects and homework. We expect our students to follow all of EAC’s policies regarding such access and accept responsibility for all fines incurred for lost or damaged material.
What is your cell phone policy?
We allow cell phones and personal electronic devices (PEDs) on campus; however, students may not use PEDs during instruction time. We expect students to turn off and put away all PEDs during class time, unless instructor approved. Students may use their devices before and after school. If you need to reach a student in case of emergency, please contact the GIFT office.
Is there a dress code at GIFT?
While some GIFT programs do have specific dress requirements, we expect our students to dress in an appropriate manner at all times. We encourage our students to remember that their years at GIFT are developing habits that will carry over to their success in the workplace. We do not allow student dress or grooming to present a health, safety, or welfare risk to themselves or fellow students. Specifically, we do not allow:
- Graphics or messages related to tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, or sexuality
- Graphics or messages that promote violence, gang membership, vulgarity, or obscenity
- Pajamas, sleepwear, or visible underclothes
- Accessories that may damage school property or pose a safety hazard (including wheeled or spiked shoes, trench coats, and sunglasses worn inside)
- Skin-tight, see-through or tattered clothing, or clothing that exposes the back, abdomen, chest, or buttocks
